I have been working as a counsellor, group leader and psychotherapist for the past 40 years. In the mid-nineties, I went public about the death of my son, Damien, from a heroin drug overdose. Soon after I began receiving many phone calls from families suffering the effects of illicit drugs. In 1997, I founded Family Drug Support, an organisation that is now well-respected and the established National service for families of drug and alcohol users. Over the past 20+ years I have assisted many families who suffer the impact on their lives of family members who use alcohol and other drugs, by offering: • One-on-one Drug & Alcohol counselling for Families being affected by someone’s use • Specialist Bereavement support, especially when the death involves drugs I can usually take appointments on Wednesdays between 10am and 1pm, and try to reply within 72 hours to confirm. If you require support in the meantime, you can contact our 24/7 telephone support service on 1300 368 186.
